Summer = On Fire for God!

Summertime in Texas means the temperatures climb without any sign of stopping! I’m sitting on my porch in the evening with a tank-dress, hair up and in the shade right now but I can literally feel the heat and see it, that haze coming up off the ground, IYKYK!

Now there are random days of temps in the 70-80℉’s (rare but there) but for the most part digits are on a slight increase and they stay there for the full Texas Summer. The thought that came to me (well after the initial “Man it’s hot!!”) was, “God help me to stay on fire for you just like this heat.”

There are days, moments, heck even seconds when I’m down down y’all…like crazy in the -30℉’s type feels! But here’s the challenge I’m giving myself: in those moments, days, weeks of “cold temps” when I feel stressed about being currently unemployed, worried about surviving as a single woman with no main income, and doubtful that His plan will come in time. I have to stop and think about how those consistent high temps of Texas summers can also be my focus and fire for God too!

I want to be consistently on fire for God, myself and others. When I am on fire for God it brings me closer to Him. Being closer to Him literally melts those stresses, worries, and doubts away, so they’re no longer all-consuming because I’m not alone; God is with me. If God is with me then I know, trust and believe He will bring me out of it too.

Whatever your “cold temps” are in this season of your life I hope you turn up the heat & ignite your fire for God.

The Good Word: “And that special gift of ministry you received when I laid hands on your and prayed-keep that ablaze! God doesn’t want you to be shy with His gifts, but bold and loving and sensible.” 2 Timothy 16 (MSG)
