UGH!! I Shoulda Said…

“Oh man!! I shoulda have said—” Ever felt this way? I feel that way all the time! From the times after interviews when I forgot to highlight a skill, to a confrontation where I wish I had spoken with more compassion or firmness. From missed chances to not telling someone how much they mean to me before losing them, to the most important: “I should have told them about Jesus!”

If I’m honest, that last one only started creeping in the last few years. Before then I was either oblivious to my missed opportunities or I thought to myself well no biggie I’ll share with someone else later on. Now I feel the urgency to speak up and tell them NOW!

I am trying to get better at feeling the nudges, whispers, and shouts from God to help me know when and how to tell my story. Here are three quick talking or thinking points I try to keep in mind:

  • How was your life before Jesus?
  • What brought you to Jesus?
  • How is your life now after knowing Jesus?

Another thing I remember is that anything I forget to say God will take it from there. I just need to plant the seed and start the conversation.

Challenge of the week: Answer one or all three of the questions above in a conversation with someone who does not know Jesus YET or that does not know your full story.

**I’m sure the 3 questions have been shaped by things I’ve heard/read along the way, though I honestly cannot remember to give proper credit.
