For us all!

Romans 5:8 may be a verse you have heard before, but don’t mistake the familiarity of it because this verse is powerful! Think of the worst thing you have ever done, even if only you know about it. It doesn’t take me long to remember several actions, words, or even thoughts that I’ve had that make me squirm with discomfort and shame. Now think of what it would be like if someone did that to you and then came not just to apologize, but also to ask for your help. What scene is running through your mind now? What are you doing? I know my first response is NOT to forgive, love, and help them.

Here’s the thing: that is absolutely the response of God! When we did that awful thing you just brought to mind, God is literally waiting for this moment, for us to come to Him and seek Him. God loves us despite that sin, and when we come to Him with it, He wants to comfort and help us through it. To make it even more amazing, God also knows the sins we are going to commit, He knows we are going to sin again, and He STILL loves us. The fact that God sent His Son, Jesus, to die for us is a whole other level of deep love that I find hard to comprehend, but amazing to strive to treat others with that same intensity of love.

I am beyond blessed and happy to know God loves me this much. God’s love is literally all I need to help me through any and all things. I want you to know, as you read this, God has that same love for you. God loves you despite any sin you have committed and will commit in the future. All God wants is for you to come to Him, to know Him, to build a relationship with Him & He will take it from there.

God, I pray that we all feel your love today. There is so much pain, hurt, and uncertainty in our world right now. We may be feeling scared, anxious, alone, angry, or we may even commit a sin ourselves out of these feelings. I pray that when we feel this way and when we commit our sins, that you will show us the way back to You so that we can feel the love that Paul wrote about and understand that Your Way is better. We are grateful for your unconditional love, and we love you. Amen.
