Grateful

God. Family. Sabbath.

As the week winds down, three things come to mind that I’m grateful for right now. Knowing and growing closer to God literally every day and moment is everything. It has always been an important part of my identity but honestly it was not always the dominant identity for me. I am happy to say I put my identity in Christ now. I am fully and completely all in for God! There is no going back for me. My life is in no way all roses and perfect but with God in my life and heart it is a whole lot happier and peaceful knowing that He’s got me.

Family is another thing I’m grateful for. I’m making a broad stroke of family too from my immediate, blood family, to my church/work family and to friends that are like family to me too. I am so grateful for the people God has put in my life. Some people were only meant for a season and I’m glad for them in that time of my life but I am incredibly thankful for the family that God has in my life for the long haul. They are stuck with me and I am so glad to be stuck with them. They build me up, support me, are there when I need them, and help me grow closer with God.

Keeping Sabbath is newer to me and I am grateful that it is a priority for me now. Not only does it help with me not overthinking or overworking which my addictive personality can easily buy into and then I become exhausted physically and mentally before I even have a chance to fix it. Keeping Sabbath helps with that because God calls us to rest, reset, and draw close to Him. Right now this is weekly for me on Sunday for a day of and with God completely. I turn off all social media and avoid ‘the scroll’ on there too. I attend church often double dipping with two churches to fill my soul and jump start my week. I also make it a point to get outside in nature with God and no noise or headphones for a bit.

God, thank you for all these things and more. I pray that anyone reading this takes a moment to pause and reflect on things they are grateful for and that we would all know that all of it comes from You. Thank you for loving me and I love you. Amen.
