A Focus Shift: From Self to Savior & Outward to Others

To-Do Lists, appointments, meetings, the list can literally go on! As my week draws closer to the weekend, I hear a little whisper from God reminding me to think of what love looks like in action. Ticking off items on a list is NOT IT! Slowing down and loving others is what I am called to do. Loving others means doing and action, not just thoughts or words. Don’t get me wrong, loving thoughts and words are important and impactful, but I feel called to DO more out of the love I have from God.

I have had this in my heart for years about what I should be DOING to show others outside my family and friends love, but I have not moved on it.

Brace yourselves, God’s perfect timing is coming here!! This weekend is the beginning of that movement for me with and for God. I am blessed to be able to go on my very first Mission Trip with my church, which I happen to work for. I have never been on one as a volunteer or as a student myself, so being able to do this with Student Ministry as my job now is amazing! That is all God.

I cannot wait to see how God will change me during this trip. I know He will be with us all, adults and students, keeping us safe and changing us for His plan and purpose.

To round it out, here is another God perfect timing: we are all doing a Bible Reading Plan written by our students on the book of Daniel, with the theme being “Different on Purpose.” I loved this theme when we came up with it for its double meaning: different because we choose to be and different for God’s purpose. This feels very fitting that we are in the middle of this study, and we are literally going out this weekend to be “Different on Purpose.” Again, I cannot wait to see what God has in store for us this weekend and the weekends after.
