Changed Like Mary Magdalene

I got demons.

Yup, I know that may stir up different emotions for us all. It can draw us in, make us laugh, stir up fears, awaken curiosity, or leave us with a confused feeling. However, it makes you feel. I encourage you to keep reading!

While walking my pup this chilly morning, I snuck in a missed day of my Reading Plan from “The Chosen to Be a Miracle! Advent Plan Based on ‘The Chosen’.” (Small plug here, it is a short verse or two each day. Easy read!) Mary Magdalen always gets me, y’all! I relate to her so deeply for many reasons, I’ll have to share another day. Today, my verses to read were Isaiah 43:1 and Luke 8:1-3. It was such a well-thought-out order of reading these verses to me. Isaiah speaks to God knowing us all BY NAME. Yes, capital letters felt needed there because that is amazing to me. When someone takes the time to remember and know you by name, you are important to that person. Think of someone you know by name and someone you don’t. You may see right away that there are reasons for both knowing and not remembering that person. Most likely the person you don’t remember is someone you had a brief encounter with, but I digress a bit. God knowing our name tells us how deeply He loves us and how important we are to His plan, regardless of how we think or feel about ourselves at the current moment.

The reading plan continued with Luke, where it mentions the group of people Jesus chose to travel with, including Mary Magdalene. Luke doesn’t just mention Mary by name, but ensures we remember and know that she was the same Mary “from whom He had cast our SEVEN DEMONS” (Luke 8:1 NLT). Again, capital letters felt right because that is truly remarkable and encouraging at the same time. To see the power that Jesus has from and with God to be able to cast out not one but seven demons is unheard of. Jesus could have also thought, ‘Okay, I ran out one demon, but Mary has too many, she’s a hopeless cause.’ NO, Jesus did not think that at all because He knew that He not only had the power to cast out seven but He loved Mary Magdalene so much that He made sure to cast out seven. Seven, being the number of completion, tells us Jesus wanted to make sure it was a ‘it is finished’ type moment for Mary. That is beyond encouraging for me personally, knowing that the same power Jesus showed with Mary, and the same love He poured out on her, is the love He offers both to you and me!

I am so excited to read this Advent Plan linked here again. Join me if you want to discover more of Jesus’ story and His love for you. You don’t have to be on a certain day (I’m ‘behind myself’) because God is going to have you on the perfect day in the plan for when you need it.

See ya in the next post, with
