āI’ve got a treasure
Here in my heart
And in my weakness
It won’t depart
I have a Savior who will abide
He’s not just with me, He lives insideā
-Heās In The Room by Maverick City Music, Naomi Raine, Chandler Moore
This song keeps popping up for me lately, and I know it is God whispering to me through its lyrics. Iāve been having GI (Gastrointestinal) issues, well, my whole life actually, but the last three months have been pretty miserable. Donāt worry, I wonāt go into the details here, but basically, there is physical pain, frustration from the unknown cause, fatigue from the stress, and overall questioning of why itās happening to me.Ā
So when Iām in my car to work after a morning of, let’s just say, not fun with my tummy and this song happens to play from a playlist that I did not create, I know God is with me. He wonāt depart in my weakness, as its lyrics say. God will abide with me because āHeās not just with me, He lives inside me.ā This is absolutely comforting in my pain, frustration, and even questioning because I know I am literally not alone. I have my Almighty Father here with and in me!Ā
While I may not have answers yet, I honestly have something even better. I have a Father, God, who loves me so much that He abides in me and is with me through it all. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, āabideā means to endure without yielding and to remain stable. One of abideās synonyms is ābearā, which implies continuing to be firm or resolute through trials and difficulties. (Side note: I love getting a little nerdy with God!)Ā
As I sit and write this with a heating pad on that angry tummy this morning, I know that I have something even better than the heat’s comfort, I have my God who will abide in me and never depart me. Friends, you have that same God to turn to when you have difficulties and pain (physical and mental). I know you may have pain and frustration that make my issues look tiny in comparison, but God is Almighty and all-powerful, and He is with you. All you have to do is go to God and bring it to Him. He will see you through it and be with you the whole time.
