Getting Back on Track With God: When I Fell Off My Goals (And How God Helped Me Start Again)

January 10, January 12, January 21…these are dates that pop up when you ask others (or Google) when Quitter’s Day for New Year’s Resolutions is. Confession incoming! I posted about this a few Mondays ago, on January 12, and today I realized WOW I totally quit my blogging cadence last week and the start of this week.

In said blog, “No Quitters Day,” I gave 3 quick tips that I had to revisit when I felt the frustration at myself for ‘quitting’ my blog last week. My third tip to myself in that blog, ‘all or nothing thinking,’ spoke to me today. It is okay that I skipped a few days in my plan, and that goes for you, too! It’s okay to not be perfect because, spoiler alert, we are not perfect.

So I’m hoping back on my blog writing train today and being okay when other things pull my attention from it, especially when those things pulling me are from God. Looking back at the days I missed, I was prepping, planning, or recovering from a very important divine assignment God had for me, our Middle School Confirmation Retreat. I’ll have to blog more about that amazing experience soon here for sure, but today I want to focus on how it’s okay to miss a day or so of a goal you set out to do. God is with you through it all and understands when we fall off a bit.

If and when you lapse on a resolution or goal, I pray you remember that God’s grace and support are ever-present in your life.

The verse I am clinging to right now as I reorient myself on my goal is Lamentations 3:22-23, “The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness;

His mercies begin afresh each morning.” (NLT)

God gives us fresh, new opportunities every day, He loves you and is with you always.

See ya in the next post, with

  1. […] I sat down to reflect on my blog from yesterday on “Listening to God on the Trail,” a short phrase came to mind: God is in the whispers. I know that was backed by scripture, so […]
