Good Friday Reflection: Prayer, Worship, and Scripture to Remember the Cross

Good Friday gets heavier each year. I know it is heavier because I know God more and more every day. I grow closer to God more and more every moment I reach out to Him, so Good Friday’s sacrifice is not just a story to me anymore; it’s a God I love who sent His Son to die for me. Not a distant God that I barely know from holidays and church every now and then, no, it is a God I have a deep, personal relationship with, and I love with everything I have.

I want to share quite a few things in somewhat random order, but I’m going to leave them all here because I feel God telling me to share today in a slightly more chaotic way. I know it has a purpose, and I pray that you, my brother and sister in Christ, reading this, receive exactly what you need today to grow closer to God, too.

God, I grieve Good Friday, but I also rejoice. The same way I saw darkness in the clouds this morning, I know there’s darkness in Good Friday. So that Your Light, God, can shine through. The same hope and light of Good Friday continues to shine in our lives, too. It may be small at first, but the more we walk with You, God, the brighter Your light shines through us. Thank You, Jesus, for Good Friday. We love You, Amen.
