Crank up the volume.
Pound the steering wheel.
Fist pumping in the air.
Pointing to my Savior.
Tears welling up.
Screaming the lyrics at the top of my lungs.
Release.
Connection.
Loved.
Seen.
Heard.

I don’t know about you, but when I hop in my car, and the right worship song comes on, this scene plays out every time in various degrees. Lyrics can speak to us just as deeply as scripture. Good worship lyrics are rooted in God’s Word and even quote scripture directly.
This past week was a rollercoaster of emotions and thoughts. One day excited, the next day anxious. One moment energized, the next exhausted. One day in particular, I was caught in a downward spiral of anxious thoughts, leading me to worry and stress over something that I thought I had more control over. I can guess I am not alone in these feelings, but they can definitely take over if we let them. I noticed I was falling hard into my anxious thoughts, so I decided to go for a walk in place of my usual car jam-sessions as you heard in the beginning here.

I hooked up my pup and headed out. Hands and jaw clinched in stress and frustration, I started talking to God in my hallway. I told God that I was frustrated and angry that my current situation with my health and finances was not improving. I have struggled silently with these because I hold in a lot, and I did not understand why it has lasted so long! Tears started to flood my eyes, and a few made their way down my cheeks. I quickly wiped them away, still angry.
That’s when I decided to pop in my earbuds before opening the door outside. As we walked down the driveway, I hit play, not even looking for a station or playlist. That’s when God showed up BIG time!
The first song was “Up” by Tauren Wells. I instantly heard God in Tauren’s words, words meant for me at that specific moment:
“Keep your head high, keep on fightin’
‘Cause the pressure makes a diamond
Tomorrow’s a new day, yeah
Ain’t no way you’re given’ up, up, up, up, up.”

If that wasn’t enough, the song right after, playing all from God, not a specific playlist, was “Know You Will” by Hillsong and Benjamin William Hastings:
“When I see a flood, You see a promise
When I see a grav,e you see a door
And when I’m at my end
You see where the future starts
I don’t know how You make a way
But I know You will!”

God was not done yet. He made sure to give me three songs in a row, y’all! Next song up was “Wonder Working” by All Creatures:
“I’ve seen so many plot twists, I’ve stopped trying to guess how He’s gonna move next
Just lean back with the lions, cookout in the fire
I don’t have to be so stressed.
Any time it looks too hard
I’ve learned to lift my eyes to the stars
‘Cause the Maker of it all, He made my heart.”

WOW! God was literally telling me this is all part of His Plan for me. That these hard times are going to sharpen and make me stronger for His Kingdom purpose for me. God was reminding me that I will not understand everything in His Plan for me right now. When I feel frustration and anger and have questioning moments, God is with me and for me. God is getting me on the path He has just for me and will make a way, His Way. When I feel these emotions, all I have to do is look to God, talk to God, take it to God, and surrender it to God. Easier said than done, of course, but these songs sent from God definitely helped me realize God has got me. Friend, I want you to know God has got you, too!
See you in the next post,
with faith and a little fur 🐾
