Walk On: A Poem About Surrendering to God

One foot in front of the other
The sidewalk leads you
You let it

One foot in front of the other
Don't step on the cracks
You realize the beauty in the brokeness

One foot in front of the other
Head down, Focus
It feels good, controlled

One foot in front of the other
A tug of the pup's leash pulls your eyes up
You blink at the brightness

One foot in front of the other
The sunrise is breathtaking
You remember
One foot in front of the other
Your feet stop; you step into the grass
Wet dew, new and fresh
Stopped feet, crouched
Humbly in God's presence
He is there with you always

Stopped feet, standing tall, listening
"Walk on, child. I Am here with you."

One foot in front of the other
Invisible footsteps beside you now and forever.
