God teaches me things continuously; the lessons are too numerous to count. As a former teacher, I see how much God loves me. I loved all my students and wanted to teach them as much as I could, including the state-required curriculum, character education, social-emotional lessons, and how to be a good human. The fact that God takes time to teach me daily is incredible to me!
If I wrote/typed all the things He taught me this week, Iād never be done before the day is finished, so Iāll pick a few that stood out the most to share.
Three Things God Taught Me This Week:
- Slow Down: It is an obvious thing to me that I have to slow down to be in the presence of God and hear His voice. However, to actually do it is a whole other thing! This week, I worked a side hustle job that forced me to slow down. I proctored a test, so I was inside a room that gave me some good moments to stop and talk to God in quiet prayer. Now the challenge is to do that outside of that room. (Psalms 46:10, Isaiah 30:15, Matthew 11:28-30)
- Connections: After seeing a friend I hadn’t seen in a while, God taught me that connections are important to Him. Yes, God desires a connection with Him, but He also wants us to be in connection with each other. Iāve always had a hard time staying connected to people I don’t see regularly, and that is what happened with this friend of mine; we donāt work together as often anymore, so our friendship has changed. I hope that will change, and we can see each other more again, but if not, I intend to stay connected with her over text and check in with her more for sure. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, Proverbs 17:17)
- Find the Time: It was a busy week! I have my full-time job at the church, but I had a full-time side hustle for the week that had me driving and working most of the day. That meant certain things I am usually able to do to connect to God looked different this week. In the mornings when a tad earlier alarm went off, I just didnāt have the energy to focus on Godās Word. Instead, I read bits at a time throughout the day on my phone. I didnāt get my usual walks with worship music or Christian podcasts to strengthen my faith; instead, I was able to pop them on in my car with my longer commute to and from work. No matter how busy my week or days are, I know I can find time with God, even for a moment or two. All the other things of the week mean nothing if I donāt have that time with Him. (Matthew 6:6, Psalms 119:105 1 Thessalonians 5:17)
I pray that these three lessons that God taught me this week strengthen us all.
See you in the next post,
with faith and a little fur š¾
